Dawie Hechter, Criterion Equipment’s Training Officer, receiving his UC-STEP Trainer Certificate Program award from TCM.
Due to an ever increasing need for technical training, coupled with training challenges faced by the factory, Criterion Equipment recognized a need to build its own internal training capacity in 2017. As such, a position of Training Officer was introduced, and Dawie Hechter from the Pretoria branch, was appointed in this role. Dawie’s mandate was to design a technical training blueprint, which would include inter-alia:
- Conducting learning needs analyses, with the aim of developing training programs based on analyses outcomes and methodologies
- Preparing relevant training material, with particular reference to product, brand and application
- Deliver training courses to both the sales and technical organizations at regular intervals
The factory driven UC-STEP program was introduced in 2018, and Dawie attended many training interventions abroad. Equipped to execute on his mandate, Dawie returned to introduce Criterion Equipment’s first ever intake, of STEP Grade IV learners. The program comprised theoretical as well as practical training, with continuous assessment throughout the period.
We are proud to recognize Dawie, as he has formally qualified as a UC-STEP trainer under this program. Dawie will participate in the next level of STEP accreditation, as he commences the UC-STEP Trainer Award Program. The UC-STEP trainer accreditation has stringent qualification criteria, all of which Dawie has met (in some cases with flying colors ).
Congratulations Dawie, we are proud to have you leading the UC-STEP training program in Criterion Equipment, also knowing that you are uplifting the level of technical expertise within the company.
